Sasalı Natural Life Park
The Natural Life Park at Çiğli Sasalı is a pioneering park where animals live in large natural enclosures rather than cages. The route from lions to flamingos makes an unforgettable day for children. The site is very large and the walking distances are long, so bring a pushchair, water and hats. In summer the right time is opening hour: it is cooler and the animals are active, whereas most retreat into shade by midday.
How to shape the Sasalı day
Rather than planning a full day, visiting from morning until lunch and returning to rest in the afternoon works better. Small children tire after about three hours, and the second half of the visit is then no fun for anyone. There are food outlets inside but queues are possible, so carrying snacks makes the day easier. Weekdays are noticeably quieter than weekends.
Kültürpark and the seafront
Kültürpark in the city centre, with its funfair and wide green spaces, is the classic family stop and, being central, is easy to attach to another plan. The Bostanlı and İnciraltı seafronts are ideal for hiring bicycles and skateboards, while playing ball on the Kordon grass is the İzmir version of free entertainment. The bay ferry counts as an activity in its own right — for children the crossing is usually more exciting than wherever it lands.
Rainy days and very hot ones
Two backup plans keep the programme from collapsing. For rain: museums, cinema and indoor play areas. For extreme heat: an early start, a long midday break and a second outing towards evening. Between roughly noon and four o'clock, an İzmir summer afternoon is not a time to be outdoors with children; giving those hours to rest at the hotel saves the rest of the day.

Forum Bornova, 1.7 km from the hotel, with its open-air areas, cinema and children's play zones, is the guaranteed plan for a wet day — and its open layout means children move through traffic-free squares rather than corridors. Public transport with children
İzmir's metro and İZBAN are spacious and lift-equipped, so a pushchair is no problem. They do get crowded at peak times (roughly 08:00–09:30 and 17:00–19:00), and avoiding those hours makes family travel much easier.
